Getting started

What is Njanghi?

Njanghi digitises community savings groups — stokvels, ROSCAs, ASCAs, and burial societies. It gives your group a shared, auditable ledger with automated reminders, payout tracking, and trust scores, without changing how your group already works.

How do I create a group?

Choose your model (rotation, accumulation, or goal & care cover), set your contribution amount and cycle, then invite your members. Your first group and up to 12 members are free, forever.

Do all my members need smartphones?

Njanghi is designed to be light on data and fast on low-end devices. Members get visibility into balances, schedules, and history from their own phones, and admins can help manage the group.

Is Njanghi available outside South Africa?

Njanghi is built for African savers and the diaspora. Availability of specific payment methods varies by country — contact us to find out what's supported where you are.

Groups & models

What's the difference between ROSCA and ASCA?

A ROSCA (rotating pot) hands the full pooled contribution to one member each cycle until everyone has had a turn. An ASCA (group bank) keeps contributions pooled so members can borrow from the fund and repay with interest, sharing out profit at year-end.

What is Goal & Care Cover?

It's for life's big moments — weddings, burials, illness. Members pay a regular premium, and when a qualifying event happens, the group releases cash and coordinates practical support like tents, food, and transport.

Can I run more than one group?

Yes. Your first 3 groups are free, and you can mix and match ROSCA, ASCA, and Goal & Care Cover. Additional groups are R20 each.

Contributions & payouts

How are contributions collected?

Njanghi sends automated reminders and keeps a running ledger so everyone can see who has paid. Supported mobile money and payment methods depend on your region.

How is the payout order decided?

For rotating groups, Njanghi can auto-generate a fair rotation order, which the group can adjust. Every payout is tracked and visible to all members.

What happens if someone doesn't pay?

Missed contributions are visible in the ledger and affect a member's trust score. Each group sets its own rules for late or missed payments; Njanghi enforces what the group agrees.

Fees & billing

How much does Njanghi cost?

Your first group and 12 members are free, forever. Extra members come in bundles of 10 for R90, and extra groups are R20 each. See the Pricing page for the live calculator.

Are the fees a subscription?

No. Extra seats and extra groups are once-off costs, not a monthly subscription. You only pay as your circles grow beyond the free allowances.

Trust & security

Is my money safe?

Funds belong to your group and its members; Njanghi facilitates and tracks them. We protect data with encryption, access controls, and fraud monitoring — see the Security page for details.

Will Njanghi ever ask for my PIN or OTP?

Never. We will never ask for your PIN, password, or one-time PIN by phone, email, SMS, or chat. Only trust messages from official @njanghi.co.za addresses.

What is a trust score?

Every member builds a Njanghi Trust Score from their contribution history and completed cycles. It travels with you across the groups you join, so trust becomes a number everyone can see.
